Turn your iPhone into a wireless keyboard & shortcut pad for your Mac or Windows PC.

Get the desktop helper

Sidekey needs a small free helper running on the computer you want to control. Download it for your system:

Quick start

1. Make sure your iPhone and your computer are on the same Wi‑Fi network.
2. Install and open the desktop helper on your computer. It shows a QR code.
3. On iPhone, open Sidekey → tap the computer name at the top → “Scan to add computer” → scan that QR code.
4. Tap a key on your phone — it appears on your computer. Done.

First‑run permissions

• Local Network (iPhone & computer): allow it, or the phone can't reach the computer.
• macOS — Accessibility: the helper asks for it on first launch. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, turn Sidekey on, then quit and reopen the helper. Without this, keys won't take effect.
• Windows — Firewall: when prompted, allow Sidekey on Private networks.

FAQ

My phone can't find / connect to the computer

• Both devices must be on the same Wi‑Fi (and not on a “guest” network that blocks device‑to‑device traffic).
• Make sure the desktop helper is running and you allowed its firewall / local‑network prompt.
• You can also add a computer manually by pasting the pairing code shown in the helper.

I tap keys but nothing happens on the computer (Mac)

Grant Accessibility permission to the helper (see above) and then quit and reopen it — the permission only takes effect after a restart.

How do I re‑pair, or use a new phone?

Just scan the QR code again. To rotate the security token, restart the helper with the reset option (see the helper's README).

Is it secure?

Pairing is protected by a token, and keystrokes travel only over your local network directly to your own computer — nothing goes through us. See our Privacy Policy.

快速上手

2. 在电脑上安装并打开小助手，它会显示一个二维码。
3. iPhone 打开 Sidekey → 点顶部的电脑名 → 「扫码添加电脑」 → 扫那个二维码。
4. 在手机上点一个键，电脑就有反应。完成。

首次运行的权限

• 本地网络（手机和电脑）：要允许，否则手机连不上电脑。
• macOS — 辅助功能：小助手首次启动会请求。打开系统设置 → 隐私与安全性 → 辅助功能，把 Sidekey 打开，然后退出小助手再重新打开。没有这一步，按键不会生效。
• Windows — 防火墙：弹窗时勾选专用网络并允许。

常见问题

手机找不到 / 连不上电脑

• 两台设备要在同一个 Wi‑Fi（别用会隔离设备的「访客」网络）。
• 确认小助手在运行，且你允许了它的防火墙 / 本地网络弹窗。
• 也可以用小助手里显示的「配对码」手动添加电脑。

点了键，电脑（Mac）没反应

给小助手授予「辅助功能」权限（见上），然后退出再重新打开它——授权要重启一次才生效。

怎么重新配对，或换新手机？

重新扫一次二维码即可。要更换安全令牌，用重置选项重启小助手（见小助手的说明文件）。
